My tummy might wiggle, my thoughts might race,
I might need a minute before I find my place.
I can breathe, take my time, and move nice and slow,
’cause feeling a little nervous doesn’t mean I can’t go.
Yesterday Ari was ready, talking all day,
’bout the snacks and the music and the games they would play.
She picked out her dress and her favorite shoes too,
saying, “Mama, this party better hurry on through!”
But Saturday morning felt different somehow,
all that big excitement got real quiet now.
Mama fixed her curls while Ari stared at her shoe.
“What if nobody’s there that I already knew?”
What if it’s too loud? What if I feel shy?
What if I wanna come home and don’t know why?
Mama said, “Those what-ifs can make worry grow,
but you don’t need every answer before you can go.”
